Pittsburgh Soccer in the Community
Pittsburgh Soccer in the Community (PSC) was founded in December 2004 by James Meara and Mark Taylor with the aim of providing children in the “at-risk” communities of Pittsburgh with access to tuition-free soccer programs and lifestyle skills. Hank Goldman, president of GoldStar Advanced Business Solutions, is on the board of PSC and a passionate member of the PSC team.
Since 2004, PSC has worked in numerous communities in the Greater Pittsburgh area and served in excess of 3,000 children. Communities that have benefited from free educational soccer programming via PSC include: Braddock, Dormont, East Hills, East Liberty, Garfield, Hazelwood, Homestead, Homewood, Lawrenceville, Northview Heights, Oakland, and Wilkinsburg. PSC has provided programs to organizations such as Auberle, Glade Run, Safety Kids, Salvation Army, and YMCA.
To provide lifestyle education seminars, PSC has partnered with groups such as the Boy Scouts of America, the Federal Bureau of Investigations Pittsburgh Division, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Pennsylvania National Guard, and the Office of the Mayor for the City of Pittsburgh.
